When it comes to talk about Burberry, it certainly is British style. So what better way to discover the new spring / summer 2018 collection than the London Fashion Week 2017 that will take place from September 15th to 19th, 2017? This year there’s one more reason to celebrate the English mood of the brand, their most ambitious Burberry trenches, bucket bags or tote and check scarves and all Burberry world: the long awaited Burberry’s exhibition on english life.
What's going to be at the exhibition of Burberry
Burberry will be present at London Fashion Week, sponsoring an incredible photo exhibition from September 18th to October 1st at Clerkenwell's Old Sessions House in London, called “Here We Are”. It explores the different aspects of British living, in particular as the way they live and how the British have been dressed since the 20th century up to these days. There will be over 200 shots and 30 photographers who will tell the story of the UK through their pictures. Among them there are Ken Russell, Dafydd Jones, Martin Parr and Dafydd Jones, Bill Brandt, Brian Griffin, Shirley Baker, Jane Bown and - of course - Alasdair McLellan, a recent "artistic collaborator" of the brand.
Not to be missed the over 70 shots of Alasdair McLellan with the suggestions of England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales. But also the unpublished prints of Shirley Baker and Ken Russell, 1979's Karen Knorr's Belgravia series, Charlie Phillips's photographs, which documented the Notting Hill community in the 1960s, and portraits of businessmen screaming by Brian Griffin. "When we started thinking about the curator of Here We Are I knew the certainty was that of wanting to celebrate that aspect of British photography I always love. The one that documents the multiple facets of the society that resides in our island - says Bailey in the official brand note - They are photographs that provide a portrait of British life in all its shades. Together they make up what I call very British way of life and way of dressing».
Where will the exhibition "Here we are" take place?
In London, the exhibition curated by Christopher Bailey, today Burberry's Chief Creative Officer, along with curator Lucy Kumara Moore and Alasdair McLellan, will be subdivided on the three floors of a historic London building, just a new Burberry home for the parades.
